Born and Bred chronicles the life inside the fictional Lancashire village of Ormston in the 1950s. Here we find the Gilder family: Tom and his father Arthur, who run the local hospital under the new National Health Service; Tom’s wife Deborah, chairman of the parish council; and the children, Helen, Michael, Catherine and Philip.
