Founded in 1913 by cinema owner Henry Hibbert and novelist C. J. Cutliffe-Hyne, Captain Kettle Films operated out of a refurbished roller-skating rink in Towers Hall, Bradford. The company produced approximately thirty shorts in the following year, but closed in 1915 due to the difficulties in continuing production during wartime.
