Set in 1821, Jamaica Inn tells the story of Mary Yellan, who moves in with her Aunt Patience after her mother dies. Upon her arrival at her aunt’s Jamaica Inn, Mary finds Patience to be under the spell of her husband, Joss Merlyn. She soon realises that the inn takes no guests, and is being used instead as the centre of Joss’ criminal enterprise.
