Opening in September 1930, the ‘wonder cinema of the North’ began its life with a 3318-seat auditorium, a 450 square-foot ballroom and a 200-seat restaurant. Though primarily a cinema, the auditorium also hosted ballet and concert performances, and once saw the Beatles take the stage in support of then-16-year old solo artist Helen Shapiro. The building is now known as the Bradford Odeon.
